Tame Valley Scout District covers much of north Birmingham. There are 13 Scout Groups and 6 Explorer Scout Units plus Network and Scout Active Support Sections and a Gangshow. The area includes Handsworth, parts of Great Barr, Perry Barr, Kingstanding, Oscott, Perry Common, Pype Hayes, Erdington, Aston and Lozells
Scouting in this multi-cultural area offers young people from the age of 4 years upwards opportunities to take part in activities, make friends, learn about our world and gain skills for life.
Scouting offers a range of outdoor and indoor activities throughout the year. Camping is encouraged and all of the Cubs, Scouts and Explorers have the opportunity to camp and take part in exciting and adventurous activities. Beavers all have the opportunity for camping or indoor sleepovers.
The Explorer Scouts, (aged 14 to 18 years) and Network Scouts (aged 18 to 25), take part in Duke of Edinburgh Award activities and can gain Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards as well as their Scouting Awards up to the coveted Queen’s Scout Award.
We can always find spaces for young people looking to join a Scout Group. There are many opportunities for adults to join Scouting. All of our Leaders are well trained and training is provided for all of our volunteers.
